The ECM Classika PID
As its name suggests, the ECM Classika PID combines classic with modern. It is a classic single-circuit portafilter machine, but has a PID control built in. This means that the temperature is not controlled analogously via the pressure in the boiler, as was long the case with comparable machines, but directly and digitally via the actual temperature, to the exact degree. The display of the control unit, which is located on the front left below the pump pressure gauge, shows the temperature in the boiler during operation. As soon as a brew is started using the classic lever, a timer on the display counts the run-through time of the espresso instead of the temperature. The Classika can be switched to steam mode using a toggle switch at the top right. In this mode, the boiler is heated up further so that hot steam is available for frothing milk via the milk lance. In an angular chrome steel look with toggle switches and two orange and one green lights, the Classika comes in a traditional, elegant look.
Classic espresso grinder
Freshly grinding the beans is essential for preparing real espresso. The bundle includes the ECM C-Manuale 54 to match the Classika PID. In addition to the design that matches the portafilter machine, the classic espresso grinder promises easy operation and high-quality workmanship, making it a loyal companion to the Classika PID. The C-Manuale 54 bears its name for several reasons. On the one hand, it is a manually controlled, electric grinder. This means that the on-demand coffee grinder grinds as long as the contact rocker is pressed through the portafilter. The 54, on the other hand, can be found in two places. The stainless steel grinding discs have a diameter of 54 mm and the grinding level can be adjusted and locked in exactly the same number of steps using the large scale. The bean container can also be closed with a mechanism for cleaning or changing the type of bean, so that it can be removed when full.
Everything you need to get started
In addition to the ECM Classika PID and the ECM C-Manuale 54, the bundle also includes high-quality accessories from ECM so you can get started fully equipped. The M-sized brewing drawer is perfect as a base for the coffee grinder. It contains a rubberized rod against which the portafilter is hit to remove the espresso puck from the sieve. The tamper station is perfect for keeping the portafilter stable and horizontal when pressed with the tamper. Finally, the matching tamper is also included. All in all, with this bundle you get the right and perfectly coordinated full equipment, all from the premium manufacturer ECM.
