More than 50 years of "Made in Italy"
50 years and more "made in Italy" - The Moak roastery was founded in 1967 in Modica, Sicily by Giovanni Spadola and celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in 2017. The city of Modica has been influenced by thousands of years of history. As Motyka, the city of Modica was part of the Greek Empire, followed by the Romans, who called it Motuca, and finally the Arabs, who left their cultural heritage in Mohac. The company name "Moak" is thus a tribute to the Arabs, who are considered the discoverers of coffee. The cultural influence of the region, the city and the people is reflected in the coffee creations of the Moak roastery.

The Development of the Sicilian Roasting
After its beginnings in the late 1960s, the company has continued to develop to this day. At first, it was only able to serve the Italian market, but today Moak is represented with its products on all 5 continents. The company has continued to grow and modernize over the years. The company's identity has never been compromised by new processes or marketing strategies, and the focus has always been on the "made in Italy" product. The quality of the products is due to the careful selection of the coffee beans and a roasting process that gives each coffee variety the optimal organoleptic properties.

The variety of espresso blends
Moak's experience and passion is reflected in a wide range of blends. There is something for every coffee lover, from aromatic and delicate flavors to very creamy coffees, the roastery offers a wide variety. Moak Caffè sells the unique taste experience of an Italian Moak espresso in bars, for home or for the office. Moak coffee from Sicily is popular for its ORGANIC FAIR COFFEE and the Moak Gusto Bar.

Who is the Moak Coffee Roastery?
Caffè Moak was founded in 1967 in Modica, Sicily, by Giovanni Spadola and remains closely connected to the history, culture, and identity of this extraordinary region. The name “Moak” derives from “Mohac,” the Arabic name for the city of Modica – a deliberate tribute to the Arabs, who are regarded as the discoverers of coffee. What began as a small workshop has, over more than five decades, grown into an internationally successful roastery. Today, it is led by Alessandro and Annalisa Spadola and is present in over 50 countries across five continents. Despite modernization and global expansion, Moak remains uncompromisingly committed to the principle of “Made in Italy.”
What Does Moak Coffee Taste Like?
Moak represents Sicilian expressiveness in flavor: full-bodied, aromatic, and creamy – often with notes of cocoa, chocolate, nuts, almonds, honey, or vanilla. The espressos are characterized by a pronounced crema, depth, and harmony. Depending on the blend, the aromatic spectrum ranges from delicate and elegant to intense, bold, and highly present, without ever seeming unbalanced. Each coffee is designed to deliver a rounded, sensual taste experience.
Is Moak Coffee Typically Italian Roasted?
Yes – but with a Sicilian character. Moak follows the classic Italian roasting tradition, focusing on espresso, body, and crema, while interpreting it with the warmth and intensity of Southern Italy. The roasts are predominantly medium to dark, carefully calibrated to highlight the organoleptic properties of each bean variety. The result is Italian roasting craftsmanship with a Mediterranean soul.
Which Brewing Methods Is Moak Coffee Suitable For?
Moak is primarily designed for espresso-based preparations and performs particularly well with:
- Portafilter machines
- Fully automatic machines
- Moka pots (Bialetti)
Thanks to its pronounced crema and bold aromatic profile, Moak is ideal for espresso, cappuccino, caffè latte, and flat white – both in the Ho.Re.Ca. sector and at home.
Who Is Moak Coffee the Right Choice For?
Moak is ideal for those who:
- are looking for authentic Italian espresso
- prefer creamy, full-bodied coffees
- value tradition, origin, and history
- appreciate coffee with personality and a distinctive character
It particularly appeals to espresso purists, lovers of classic Italian bars, and restaurateurs who want to offer their guests character, depth, and emotion in every cup.
