First-class filter coffee for home
In 1968, Technivorm began developing a coffee machine for the quick and normal filter method. Various other models soon followed. Initially only for use in private households, coffee machines for the professional market followed in 1983. At the time, Technivorm was considered revolutionary and innovative due to the installation of a radial fan, because from then on the coffee no longer overheated, which meant that the coffee had less bitter substances and therefore a better taste.

The Moccamaster filter coffee machine not only impresses with its beautiful and simple design in many different colors, but above all with its ease of use and convincing taste. It is a must for quality-conscious coffee lovers, because it guarantees first-class coffee with extremely fine nuances, almost like with a hand filter method. A clear advantage of the Moccamaster turns out to be that larger quantities can be brewed very quietly, thus saving the customer a clear amount of time compared to a hand filter method.

The company philosophy
A healthy environment is of great importance to Technivorm-Moccamaster. The company's goal is to process as many recyclable or, ideally, completely degradable materials as possible. In addition, Technivorm-Moccamaster products are economical to use and have an extremely long lifespan, thus helping to minimize waste disposal. The company, which has a seal of approval, relies on resource-saving and energy-efficient production.

Learn more about the Moccamaster brand
Where is the Moccamaster produced?
The Moccamaster is manufactured by the Dutch company Technivorm. The production site is in the Netherlands, where since the 1960s all machines are handcrafted and tested for functional quality and durability. Each machine is individually tested before leaving the factory.
How many scoops of coffee does a Moccamaster need?
For brewing coffee in the Moccamaster, we recommend 60 grams of coffee per liter of water. The Moccamaster measuring scoop holds about 12 grams of coffee grounds, so for a full pot, use 5 scoops.
Is the Moccamaster really that good?
Yes. The Moccamaster enjoys an excellent reputation worldwide among coffee professionals and enthusiasts because it consistently delivers clean, aromatically balanced filter coffee extractions. The precise temperature control, even saturation of the coffee grounds, and robust construction ensure that the coffee tastes clear, rounded, and free of off-flavors.
Why does my coffee taste sour with the Moccamaster?
If your coffee tastes sour with the Moccamaster, there can be several reasons. The most common are:
- Too coarsely ground coffee: Water "rushes" through too quickly, extracting too few soluble flavors. → Adjust to a finer grind.
- Too little coffee per liter of water: Diluted flavors are perceived as more acidic. → Use more coffee grounds.
- Too fresh or very light roast: Light, fruity, and acidic notes are more pronounced. → Try a slightly darker roast.
Why does my Moccamaster coffee taste bitter?
Bitterness often arises from over-extraction: too long contact time between water and coffee grounds or too finely ground coffee, which dissolves too many bitter compounds.
Which coffee is best for the Moccamaster?
For the Moccamaster, medium to medium-dark roasted filter coffee with an even grind is especially suitable. Even though the Moccamaster filters technically excellently, very dark roasted espresso beans are usually less ideal, as they can make the flavor profile too heavy or bitter. For clear, balanced results, a filter profile or medium roast is often the best choice.
